Hey there! I’m Ashley.
My guess is you’re here because you’re ready for a change. You want to thrive, not just survive, and I want that for you. Although I would love to tell you all about my personal life and what I do in my spare time (cook delicious food, go on adventures with my family, spend as much time as possible in the woods) or what my favorite foods are (salmon, avocados, sweet potatoes, butter, the list goes on…I love food!), I’ll start with this: I’m passionate about helping women find their groove in motherhood. I have been formally educated as a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I love this work, and I believe in it.
I know firsthand that becoming and being a mom isn’t easy, and feeling well can make all the difference. During my pregnancy with my daughter, Juniper, I quickly learned that the nutrition information and recommendations for pregnant women was all over the place. It was overwhelming and sometimes inaccurate. Luckily, I already had a nutrition background and knew how I wanted to feed myself and my growing baby, but it helped me understand that pregnant women need more guidance.
My pregnancy was smooth sailing, and my baby was born happy and healthy. I thought to myself, “Phew, I did it. I made it to the top of Everest.” And I had, but what I hadn’t anticipated was how challenging it was going to be coming back down from Everest. For the most part, we are tenderly cared for and fed nutritious food during pregnancy, but all to often the attention on mama turns to the new beautiful baby in the family. The fact of the matter is we need even more nourishment and support after the baby is born.
I struggled during the fourth trimester. I lost a considerable amount of blood during my labor, and it left me with postpartum nutrient depletion. My digestion was moving along like a slug, I was losing hair, my skin was dry and acne-prone, I had back pain, my energy was at an all time low, and I just wasn’t enjoying those first several months as much as I had hoped. I couldn’t believe I was having so many health problems. I ate incredibly well during my pregnancy, and I had a superbaby to prove it.
The more I talked to other moms I came to understand that many women go through a period of nutrient depletion after pregnancy. Sadly for some, the symptoms only get worse and become chronic conditions. I knew there was a way to recover, and I wasn’t going to pop a pill to make it happen. So I decided to become my own client. I evaluated my symptoms, assessed my diet, and put together a plan that was unique to my needs. I’m happy to report that I’m feeling like myself again, actually I feel even better than my pre-pregnancy self. Let me tell you, it’s fantastic!
